I would go to the Memorial and deal with things "heads-up". The meeting is quick. It is an in and out affair, because there is probably a congregation either before yours, or after. Try to go to an early one in a neighboring congregation if you can. You may go unnoticed. The Elders are on orders to leave people alone who want to be left alone, but to just be nice to them. Expect Love Bombing from the women. If your wife hasn't done anything that may be judicial, she will probably be left alone.

Q: What is the procedure for requesting to be on the Do Not Call list
A: Write a letter to the local congregation. Send it Certified mail.
Q: What happens when someone requests to be on the Do Not Call list?
A: Nothing. They just list it on the territory card.
Q: Does a letter need to be sent each year?
A: Yes. Send it each year, and make it certified mail. If you don't they will come to your house "to verify whether you still want someone not to call".
Q:Is the information shared with elders at neighboring congregations?
A: No. It stays only in the Local Congregation and put in the territory card. They may contact another congregation if they had reason to do so.
Q: How do the elders view such requests?
A: How do you think? It's really no big deal. They will just put the note in the territory card and leave it at that unless you give them a reason to think/do something. They still have to honor your request.

Hey, Ziddina; The way you get a Lawyer into a JC Meeting is to just bring him/her with you. The Elders will object. You say, okay, we will leave. Ask what the charges are. They have to tell you. If you are innocent, say so and then get up and leave with the Lawyer. Let it fly from there.

There is a Brother in our congregation who moved in a few years ago. In a former congregation not too far away he had served as an Elder for many, many years and was relatively well known. I know he had handled many difficult matters, as others had told me this. When he moved in, I was told that he came with a sterling recommendation, but declined to serve. He kind of keeps to himself. He speaks to people and is friendly enough if you speak to him, but he does not approach or engage anyone. He is helpful to thoes that he sees are in material need. His wife is very nice. She told the coordinating Elder in our congregation that previously, her husband serving as an Elder "almost destroyed him". I have heard her say this before. One Sunday after the meeting I was standing in the back of the Hall. One of the Elders approached this Brother who was also back there and asked him why he wasn't in the TMS. The Brother replied that when he and his wife moved in several years ago, he had told the TMS overseer that he would be in the school. However, the Brother was never assigned a talk (this Brother is in the truth and served for decades of time. Regressing to 5 minute talks won't do him much good I think) he thought that the Brother had forgotten. The Elder said, "well, let's go talk to the Brother who does the school, discuss this and get you an assignment". The Brother replied; "Well, since the Brother has forgotten, let's just leave it that way". The Elder asked why. The Brother said; "I am in the truth over 40 years. There are two things I have learned in that period of time. The first is not to volunteer twice, and the second is don't remind an Elder of anything". The Elder said nothing. He just politely smiled and walked away.

I suggest that your Father call the family to be together, and state the date, time and place. He is the "head" of his household and is asking his family to attend because he has "Family business" to conduct. You should all get together, have your party for your Parents and at the very end of the Party, your Father makes the announcement that is "Family business". That could be almost anything that he wishes. I would suggest that he identify who the Attorney is that your Parents used to draw up their will or something like that. Just my $0.02.

While they are at it, it would be good to revise "The King of the North and The King of the South" stuff. That should be good for a few study articles. It is clear that The King of the North cannot be the Communist block (considering any of that was ever correct). Terrorism maybe? Terrorism is nebulous and a moving target. That could be good revision for a decade or two.

1914+100 Years

Conan The Barbarian
Hi to everyone. I am new here. I have been reading things for a while.
In approximately 20 months it will be the year 2014. That year will be 1914+100 years. I don't know how the WTS is going to get around that if the "present system" is still in existence. There are hundreds of thousands of current members that were told "don't worry! The end will come before you get out of grammar school". These people were also told the scriptural reference that an average human life-span is 70 years. It could be 80 years if you had "special mightiness". That equated to 1914+80 years (generation) or 1994 (not withstanding the existence of "the sign"). This line of reasoning changed in 1995 (it had to) and has been updated twice more to where the term "generation" is understood to now mean "the Anointed" not 1914+80. These changes pushed the "generation issue" into oblivion and off the radar screen.
Now many of these people are 50, 60, 70 years old or older and will probably be looking at the same world system 20 months from now. They did not pursue "higher education" or other things that might have provided for them in their late life. So, I expect disallusioned members, who's potential for general life-long income (improved life style) and an adequate retirement were frustrated by the mantra that the end of the system is close-don't worry, live in expectation of it, etc. In approximately 20 months when they get hit in the face with 1914+100 and are still on the smae treadmill, I expect a serious decline in membership, at least in the western world.
I also note a de-emphasis on the 1914 date, Although it remains as part of the basic teachings (it has to), I see it being de-emphasized in the literature, talks, etc and the emphasis switching to observance of "the sign" which is subjective and nebulous. This diversion can take the WTS well into the future with less risk. Right now, "You got a lot of 'splaining to do Lucy!".
Anyhow, just my thoughts and present observations.
